Accessibility Statement and help

Bridgnorth District Council is committed to accessibility and our aim is to make our website accessible to all.

Government guidelines and the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines lay down standards for website compliance. Our aim is to meet WAI AA accessibility guidelines, complying with all priority 1 and 2 requirements and many of the priority 3 checkpoints of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines < Link to http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/ >.

Access keys

Access keys are keyboard shortcuts that provide an alternative navigation method for the website user.

The use of access keys depends upon the operating system being used.

Access keys are only supported by Internet Explorer 4 or above and Netscape 6X versions.

For Macintosh - press Control + Accesskey

Most pages on this website have a search box by default. The search box is properly labelled and has an

Design and layout

All pages on this site validate as HTML 4.01 and CSS2

This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.

The content of each page is still readable even if a user's browser or browsing device does not support style sheets.

We have tried to use colours throughout the Web site that provide maximum contrast between foreground and background items.

Many links in this website have title attributes, which describe the link in greater detail. Links are written to make sense out of context.

All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes. Complex images include LONGDESC attributes or inline descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers.

A text-only version of this website site is available to help visually impaired users access information.
