Welcome to the Bridgnorth District Rural Transport Partnership's webpages.

Our aim is to provide opportunities for local communities within the administrative area of Bridgnorth District to express their transport needs and to provide resources to help in meeting those needs.

These webpages are designed to provide information on who the Partnership is and what projects have been developed to overcome the problems of transport within such a rural area.

The Background

Within Bridgnorth District 85.2% of households (source 2001 Census) have access to a car or van. In fact, 44.3% of households have 2 or more cars or vans. However, this does not mean that everyone within the District has adequate transport to go about their daily lives. Many people are still reliant upon other forms of transport whether that is public transport or "healthier options" such as walking and cycling. Others are not in that position and are completely reliant on others, such as the Voluntary Car Scheme, friends or family, to cater for their transport needs.

The solution

The Bridgnorth District Rural Partnership was formed in 1999 under the Countryside Agency's Vital Villages Programme, which supports initiatives to help to address these issues and help to improve transport links in rural areas. The Partnership's aim is to provide opportunities for local communities within the administrative area of Bridgnorth District to express their transport needs and to provide resources to help in meeting those needs.
