Leisure Grants
Leisure Grant Criteria
- The Leisure Grants are aimed at supporting leisure opportunities within Bridgnorth District, and so contributing to the Council's Corporate Priorities. Your application must show benefits for your community in one of the following ways -
- Providing or enhancing sporting opportunities
- Providing or enhancing children's play, including teenagers
- Providing or enhancing parks or open spaces
- Providing or enhancing leisure facilities
- Helping people to be more active
- Making leisure facilities or services more accessible to all ages and abilities
- The maximum level of grant for any scheme will be £3000 and can be for either revenue or capital.
- A minimum of 10% local funding is required, either from your Parish / Town council or raised by the applicant (if from the applicant the contribution may include in kind support such as donations of materials or volunteer labour. We will ask for more details of this to determine the cash value).
- Only non-profit organisations will be funded.
- Grant aid will only be considered for Bridgnorth District based projects and / or activities which are significantly for the benefit of the residents of the District.
- Your organisation must be formally constituted and have a bank account. Copies of model constitutions are available on request.
- Your organisation must be able to demonstrate equal opportunities, actively encouraging the widest possible membership within your terms of reference.
- Party political organisations or organisations connected with political aims, or involved the lobbying of political parties, are excluded. In addition, uniformed groups such as scouts and guides are also excluded.
- Religious organisations will only be funded if it can be demonstrated that the grant will not be used for religious activity.
- Your organisation must demonstrate attempts at fundraising, either through alternative grant sources or fundraising activities.
- Organisations can only apply for one grant per annum.
- Applications where expenditure on the project has already been incurred will not be considered. Neither will grants for work already completed. You must wait until the grant application has been assessed before commencing your project.
- Applications towards day to day running costs will not be eligible.
- All projects must commence within 6 months of the grant award, and completed within 18 months.
- 50% of the grant awarded will be paid on the commencement of the project, with an interim payment of 25%, and the final 25% paid on completion.
- In recognition of funding from the District Council, organisations must credit Bridgnorth District Council in any publicity relating to the project and display the Council's logo on any promotional material.
