Housing
The Housing pages are currently being updated. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Welcome to the Housing section of the website.
The Council is the largest single landlord in the district with over 2,300 properties. The stock of rented homes covers most settlements and areas of the district and housing types range from family homes to elderley persons' bungalows.
Demand for housing in the district is very hight, however, we are working with Housing Association partners to develop new homes for rent. These can include those for residents with special housing needs resulting from age or disability. We also provide Housing Support services to those residents in need, to assist them in retaining their homes.
Bridgnorth District Council provides tenants and leaseholders with many housing services to make life easier and more convenient. In consultation with customers we are committed to continuously reviewing and improving the services we provide.
If you are a tenant or leaseholder and would like to comment on our services or you would like to find out more about any of our services please contact housing@bridgnorth-dc.gov.uk or telephone 01746 713205 or write to the address below.

Resident Involvement
Bridgnorth District Council is committed to working with tenants and leaseholders to ensure they have every opportunity to shape and influence the future of the housing service. To achieve this BDC's resident involvement team endeavours to maximise the number of residents who are prepared to get involved and give them a choice over the level of involvement which best suits their individual circumstances. The ABC of Resident Involvement is a document and a process designed by the team that describes the various means of getting involved. More information can be found by downloading the booklet or viewing a dedicated website.
The website can be accessed via this link
The ABC of Resident Involvement document can be downloaded from here
Residents are able to get involved by:-
- setting up a local residents association
- contributing to the work of the Tenants Federation (give link - see directions above about Tenant's Federation information))
- taking part from home in postal surveys
- joining service review groups
- responding to e-mail and online surveys and questionnaires
- taking part in estate walkabouts
- sampling existing services through mystery shopping
Through involvement residents can:-
- understand better what BDC does
- have a direct input into housing decisions
- get their own opinions as customers heard and acted upon
- make a positive difference to people's lives
- identify priorities in service delivery
- help improve local neighbourhoods
BDC's resident involvement officers work closely with tenants to increase the number and diversity of persons involved and to provide the training and skills necessary to enable them to play an influential part in how the District Council delivers its housing service. The team also produces a quarterly newsletter to keep tenants and leaseholders up to date and informed.
