Estate walkabouts

Estate Walkabouts allow residents to show our officers the problems that most concern them in the area in which they live.

Any resident can take part,  walkabouts are organised on a regular basis by the Neighbourhood Advice Officers - or arranged whenever residents believe they are necessary.

The local police, parish and district councillors, representatives of other areas of the council (those responsible for the cleanliness and grass cutting for example) are also invited.

Residents and officers walk around a particular neighbourhood together and pick up on matters of concern, for example maintenance of the common areas or road safety issues.

It is also an opportunity for residents to discuss ideas for any improvements they would like to see in their area.

Together, officers and residents discuss how to resolve any problems or how to tackle any issues and agree a way forward. Incidents of anti-social behaviour and other tenancy issues are often pointed out to officers on walkabouts.

In this way residents get the opportunity to have their opinions heard and their ideas used in any actions that are taken. A timescale is also agreed so that residents can check that action has been carried out.

Walkabouts already arranged for 2008/09 are:-
