Play consultation
Around 5,000 consultation fliers were sent to children throughout the district to find out what play means to them, and what stops kids playing.
Here are a few of their thoughts:
- "Play is having fun and enjoying myself. It is running about and social times with my friends"
- 'Play means do much to me and my friends. I love the sound of children laughing with excitement. It's magical. Especially when you run so fast that your legs feel as if they are going to fall off! The most greatest bits about playing is the way you don't have a care in the world and instead you scream with happiness."

- "Play is a time when you can run around the place and shout. You can play imaginative games"
- "Play is fun to me because kids want to have fun and stay active, but there is no where to play. There is a car park which stops us from playing and there is a field we would like to play on but someone owns it and it is not safe. I want somewhere to play to have some fun"

- "Bullies on the playground stop you from playing. It is upsetting when bullies break the play things on the playground."
- "People saying you are not allowed to go somewhere or saying that it's their space stops me from playing."

- "I want a skate park. It's boring without one so if you could build one for us we would be grateful. I think a skate park would be cool"
- "Play to me is playing music. The things that stop me from playing are parents and school."
The results of consultation with children and adults are being collated and will be posted on this webpage in the next few weeks. Thanks to everyone who has taken part.
