Adopting Parish Plans as Supplementary Planning documents

Bridgnorth District Council has produced a guidance note for groups producing Parish Plans and Village Design Statements that wish to see them formally adopted by the District Council upon completion. Under the new planning system Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) has been replaced by Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) and there are a number of requirements that must be met for documents to be adopted as SPD. One of the most significant requirements is that SPD's must be subject to sustainability appraisal.

The Guidance Note provides details on the steps that must be undertaken by any group producing a document in order for the District Council to then adopt the document as SPD and form part of the Local Development Framework.
