Tuck Hill Common
Tuck Hill common was registered as common land in 1982. Tuck Hill is a small area of woodland surrounding the church of the Holy Innocents, which was built of local stone 200 years ago by local quarrymen in memory of the many children who died from a diphtheria epidemic in the area. Some original features include a water pump and a small natural spring, which is still used to water the graveyard. The land was once an open meadow and was used to graze pigs and sheep.
The woodland contains many beautiful mature trees including several beech and sweet chestnut. The site is home to a variety of wildlife, especially bats which roost in the church. In the spring the woodland floor is carpeted with wildflowers.
Location
Tuck Hill common is close to Six Ashes, Just outside Bridgnorth. There is a small car park to the north of the site.
