Severn Valley Country Park

An area of some 180 acres of woodland, meadows and wetland, dedicated for the quiet enjoyment of the countryside by the public, the Severn Valley Country Park spans both sides of the River Severn between the villages of Highley and Alveley. The area was once the site of the Highley and Alveley Collieries which ceased production in 1969 after almost a hundred years of mining. In the late 1980s the area was reclaimed to create the country park. As well as reclaimed areas the park has large areas of ancient woodland and unimproved meadows, and the park attracts an increasing variety of wildlife.

Birthday Parties

Parents looking for a special birthday treat for their wildlife-mad youngsters are being offered the chance to book their party at the Severn Valley Country Park.

The award-winning attraction, near Alveley, is now offering nature-themed parties for up to 15 youngsters.

Children will spend an hour with a Ranger, either pond dipping, well or tree dressing or taking a nature walk (some activities are dependant on the weather) before heading back to the park's Visitor Centre for a traditional birthday feast.

We offer a choice of different activities during the party - or if you have your own ideas we will try to accommodate them if we can.
