Land and water contamination

The Council monitors and deals with problems of contamination, including landfill gases and industrial and agricultural chemical spillages.

A water sampling service is available to people with private drinking water supplies. The Council will take samples of drinking water from private supplies for bacteriological and chemical analysis. A charge may be levied for this service. Should the supply prove to be polluted, advice will be given on remedial measures. Please contact 01746 713157 or report contaminated land online.

The Council must respond to all major incidents and try to ensure the safety of local residents.
