Grant Aid for Capital Projects and Equipment
Aim
To provide financial assistance to voluntary organisations towards the costs of club development in the form of facilities and equipment.
Are we eligible?
- Small-scale facility development may be aided, where the Bridgnorth District Council's Leisure and Community Grants Scheme is not appropriate.
- Equipment to be grant aided must be new and not for replacement purposes.
- In exceptional circumstances, funding may be made for replacement equipment if the purchase is necessary due to a change in governing body rules. In this instance, funding is also expected from other organisations.
- Your organisation must be based in Bridgnorth district.
- If applying for facility development, your organisation must have security of tenure and be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain and adequately insure it.
Conditions
- Grants are not awarded for projects which have already commenced, or equipment which has already been purchased.
- Your club/organisation must be affiliated to the Bridgnorth District Sports Development Grant Scheme.
- Your club/organisation must be voluntary and fully constituted.
- Membership to your club/organisation must be open to all.
How much can we apply for?
Any grant aid awarded is at the discretion of the Sports Development Officers and will be determined
based on the following factors:
- total cost
- number of people to benefit
- input from club/organisation
- extent to which young people will benefit
- benefits accrued (more people participating, improved levels of performance etc.)
- amount of funding available
- value and merit of the proposed course
Maximum grant awarded could be 75% of the total project costs, the maximum being £1000.

Grant Aid for Club Based Coach and Official Development Courses
Aim
To encourage and assist clubs and voluntary organisations to organise and provide local coach education courses. This application form is appropriate if more than five people from a club are attending the same course.
Are we eligible?
- Your course should be recognised by your governing body of sport.
- Awards can be granted for NGB awards and 'hot topics'.
- The coach education course must be based in Bridgnorth district.
- Your club/organisation must be affiliated to the Bridgnorth District Sports Development Grant Scheme.
Conditions
- Grants are not awarded for courses which have already commenced.
- Your club/organisation must be fully constituted.
- The proposed course must be open to non-members.
- Those attending the course must intend to coach/officiate in a voluntary capacity within Bridgnorth District.
How much can we apply for?
Any grant aid awarded is at the discretion of the Sports Development Officers and will be based on a percentage of the total costs of the proposed course (total expenditure - total income). The amount awarded will be based on the following factors:
- Total costs (publicity, course resources and workbooks, tutor fees, venue hire etc)
- Input from club/organisation
- Number of individuals to benefit (anticipated)
- Amount of funding available
- Value and merit of the proposed course
Please note that first time courses will attract greater funding than annual courses.

Grant Aid for Coach and Official Development Courses
Aim
To support and develop the number and quality of coaches and officials within the district by offering financial assistance towards the costs of educational courses
Am I Eligible?
- Grants are not awarded for courses that have already commenced.
- The Grants Committee reserve the right to interview the applicant if deemed necessary.
- The course should be recognised by the governing body of the sport.
- You should select the closest and cheapest available version of the course.
Please note: If more than five people from the same club are applying for funding towards the same course, clubs are encouraged to organise their own course and apply for funding through the club based coach development grant scheme.
Conditions
- You must intend to coach/officiate in a voluntary capacity within the district
- Awards may be made for NGB awards and courses in appropriate 'hot topics'
- Priority will be given to you if you reside within Bridgnorth district or are a full time student whose parents reside in the district
How Much Can I Apply For?
Any grant aid awarded is at the discretion of the Sports Development Officers and whilst up to 100% may be granted, the extent of the award will be dependant on the following factors:-
- cost of the course
- other costs involved e.g. transport, materials, equipment, accommodation
- amount of voluntary coaching done
- need for coaches/officials of the type within the district
- amount of funding available
- value and merit of course

Grant Aid for Individual Coaching
Aim
To provide financial assistance to enable individuals to undertake a specific specialised coaching session or course in order to improve standards of performance.
Am I Eligible?
- You must reside within Bridgnorth district or be a full-time student living away from home whose parents reside in the district
- The coaching course/session should be over and above your normal training schedule
- You must have a minimum of representative honours at county level or equivalent
- Funding may be given towards the cost of the course, travel expenses and accommodation
Conditions
- If this coaching course is on a one to one basis, the coach must not be your regular coach
- Your usual coach may undertake the coaching if it is elite squad or group work.
- Grants are not awarded for courses which have already commenced.
- The coaching course/session should have specific objectives relating to improving your performance.
How Much Can I Apply For?
Any grant aid awarded is at the discretion of the Sports Development Officers and whilst up to 100% may be awarded, this is unusual. The extent of the award will be based on the following factors:-
- cost of the coaching course/session
- other costs involved (transport, accommodation, equipment etc)
- commitment to/achievements in the sport
- potential benefits to be derived from the course
- amount of funding available
- value and merit of the course

Aim
To encourage and assist clubs and voluntary organisations to organise and provide sports coaching courses and to establish new clubs/junior sections.
Are we Eligible?
- Your venue for the course should be within the Bridgnorth district.
- Your course should be supplemental to the normal operation of the club/organisation.
- Your course should have a specific aim (e.g. to attract new members/to introduce people to the sport/ to raise levels of performance etc) and not be the club's weekly training session.
- Support can be provided towards the costs of establishing new clubs/junior sections.
- Where possible your course should provide mentoring opportunities for existing club coaches.

- Grants are not awarded for courses which have already commenced.
- Your club/organisation must be affiliated to the Bridgnorth District Sports Development Grant Scheme.
- Your club/organisation must be fully constituted.
- Membership to your club/organisation must be open to all.
- The proposed course must be open to non-members.

Grant Aid for Hallmark Awards
Aim
The 'Hallmark Awards' give recognition and financial assistance to talented sports men and women in all recognised sports. Awards are distributed annually to selected sports men and women who, in the opinion of the Advisory Council, have attained the most noteworthy achievement in terms of sports performance and potential for future development.
Am I eligible?
- You must be a resident of the district, or a full-time student living away from home whose parents reside in the district.
- You must have achieved a minimum of regional representative honours or equivalent in your sport (i.e. above county standard).
- There is no age restriction on the awards scheme and both disabled and able-bodied persons are eligible
- The awards scheme covers all sports that have a recognised governing body with a national competitive structure
Conditions
- The awards are discretionary. There is no absolute entitlement to an award simply by virtue of the achievement of a specific standard of sporting performance.
- If an award is received it is eligible for one year.
- There is no limit to the number of times a person can apply for a Hallmark Award.
- Receipt of a Hallmark Award does not preclude a person from applying for grant aid from other sources of Advisory Council funding.
- A letter of support from your coach, club or other appropriate source (governing body) must be submitted with your application.
How much can I be awarded?
- The awards are designed to assist the future development of sports men and women, therefore, 'potential development' will be an important factor in determining who should receive an award.
- The maximum grant awarded to an athlete is £500 in any calendar year.

How do I receive the money?
