Corporate Plan

Our Corporate Plan is key to helping us achieve a shared vision for the district.

It does not cover all the services we provide as a local council, but focuses on a set of priorities, identified through community consultation, which we believe will lead to real change and improvement for the people living and working in the district.

To ensure we deliver, the plan sets out clearly what changes can be expected, by when, how they are to be funded, together with measurable targets to help everyone keep track of progress.

Corporate planning is a new process for the council and seeks to ensure that the way we work and our priorities are firmly based on:

• The views of the local community;
• The expectations being placed on us by central government; and
• Joint aims and ambitions set at a county-wide, Shropshire level.

The corporate planning process ensures that the way we identify and deliver areas for improvement is part of a single framework, the key components of which include service and financial planning and performance management. The following diagram illustrates the
framework we now work to.

We have recently reviewed our Corporate Priorities, which were put together in 2005 as part of our first Corporate Plan, which runs until 2009.

We consulted you, as well as our councillors and the organisations we work with, to make sure any changes in our priorities reflected the views, opinions and concerns in the district.
