Road safety - cycling and walking to school

The mode of travel chosen for a child's journey to school is recognised as having an impact not only on their safety but their health and personal development and of course the environment in which they live.

To support our established primary school presentations and talks, Shropshire County Council's Road Safety Team are now able to offer practical child pedestrian training at the roadside. Research has shown that this greatly increases children's awareness on deciding how and where to cross the road safely.

Following on from the success of the three year pilot scheme, 'Kerbcraft', the Road Safety Team are now promoting the 'Stepping Out' training scheme which was developed and piloted in Staffordshire and has received very positive responses from schools, parents and pupils.
