Car parks - council

The council is responsible for a number of car parks throughout the district for the use of local communities and visitors alike.

For fee-paying car parks charges are made through the use of ticket machines. Season tickets and Residents permits are also available to purchase from the council.

These are PAY AND DISPLAY car parks which means that you must have a valid parking ticket displayed in your vehicle at all times. If you do not, or leave the car parked after the ticket has expired it could mean that a parking fine is imposed. All charges apply from 1st April 2006 - 31st March 2007.

Regular users of the district car parks can purchase season tickets to save themselves money and time. All charges apply from 1st April 2005 - 31st March 2006. They are available for the following car parks:

Residents' Parking Permits

Off Road Parking Permit

Residents in certain areas of Bridgnorth are eligible to apply for an off road parking permit.

The permit allows residents to park in designated off road parking areas.

The eligible areas are:

  • Friars Street,
  • Cartway,
  • St Leonards Steps,
  • Railway Street,
  • Severn Street,
  • Riverside,
  • Bank Steps.

Applications from other areas will be rejected.

You can apply for one permit for each household and you may provide the registration number of two vehicles on the permit. The permit must be displayed at all times when a vehicle is parked, and only one vehicle can use the car park at the same time.

The cost of each permit is £96.00 for 12 months from 1 April.

On Road Parking Permit

Residents in certain areas of Bridgnorth are eligible to apply for a residents exemption certificate from the County Council. However permits can be issued on their behalf from Bridgnorth District Council.

The certificate allows residents to park on particular streets.

The streets are:

  • St Marys Street,
  • East Castle Street,
  • West Castle Street,
  • Castle Terrace,
  • Waterloo Terrace,
  • Bank Street,
  • St Leonards Close,
  • St Leonards Steps,
  • Moat Street,
  • Friars Street,
  • Cartway,
  • Southwell,
  • Riverside,
  • Bank Steps

Applications from other areas will be rejected.

You can apply for one or two certificates for each household and the registration number of two vehicles can be identified on each certificate. The certificate must be displayed at all times when a vehicle is parked.

The cost of each certificate is £10.00 for upto 6 months and £15.00 for 6 to 12 months.

Expiry Dates

Permit expiry dates vary depending on the street. On issue, if a permit expires less than 6 months the charge is £10.00

Parking Fines

Parking fines are now administered for the whole of Shropshire by Parkright.  Details of how to pay a parking fine and appealing against a parking fine are on their site.

Car Park Maintenance

If you notice any maintenance problems within any of the Council car parks, such as a broken light or potholes, please call Development Policy on: 01746 713242 or you can report a car park problem online.

You can report a problem with a Pay and Display Machine online.

Blue Badge Scheme

This scheme provides a national arrangement of parking concessions for Disabled and Blind People, who travel either as passengers or drivers. Blue Badges for the Bridgnorth district are administered by Shropshire County Council. Click here to access this scheme.
