Tourism

Tourism is increasingly important to the economy of Bridgnorth district.

There are a number of major attractions within the district including the Severn Valley Railway, RAF Museum, Cosford, Wenlock Priory, Jackfield Tile Museum, Weston Park and National Trust Properties.

The district's historic towns and attractive countryside are considerable assets which also play an important role in tourism.

Our principal tourism objectives relate to promotion, development and visitor services:

Promotion We work closely with Bridgnorth & District Tourist Association both to promote the area to visitors and in the joint production of an annual brochure. Click here to request a copy of the brochure. We also support Shropshire Tourism, a public/private marketing organisation for Shropshire. Development Our tourism development role includes the co-ordination of local tourism initiatives; support for the improvement of facilities; the provision of interpretation material and research and monitoring.

Visitor Services

There are Tourist Information Centres (TICs) at Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock. The TICs provide an important contact between visitors, accommodation providers and other tourism operators.

We work closely with local attractions and also with Shropshire Tourism and the Heart of England Tourist Board.
