Museum conservation

The County Museum Service undertakes a wide range of tasks and services. Caring for our collections and ensuring people have access to this valuable resource involves:

  • Accepting donations to our collections that will enhance our understanding of Shropshire's past
  • Undertaking conservation work to both prevent damage and cure deterioration
  • Providing storage of more than 110,000 objects and 310,000 records
  • Providing an object identification service for the general public
  • Undertaking education and outreach work
  • Providing support for those researching Shropshire's past and present
  • Offering opportunities to work with our collections
  • Offering curatorial advice and assistance to community groups and smaller museums
