Lighting - Council communal flats

 

We are responsible for repairs to communal areas to blocks of flats, including stairs, door entry systems, communal lighting, landings, communal windows, courtyards and sheds.

Any tenant in the block of flats noticing a repair should report it to us as soon as possible.

Once the work has been completed, the workman will attempt to get one of the tenants in the block to agree that the work has been completed - they may not go back to the original tenant that reported the repair.

Services and communal repairs

There are occasions when tenants identify necessary repairs to properties other than their own homes.

This could include things like the communal lighting in a block of flats, or the communal drainpipes to a block of garages.

We&nbsp,would always urge people to report these requests for repairs as soon as possible and we will be happy to undertake the work.

If tenants are aware that damage is being deliberately caused by an individual or groups of people, we would welcome information that could lead to those people being charged with the costs, rather than the costs falling to the rent payers.
