How to comment on Planning Proposals
Anyone can object to, support of comment on a proposal. Comments must in writing, should be succinct and refer to relevant planning issues. Typical issues are siting, appearance, access, landscaping and drainage, and effects on neighbouring properties such as light, privacy, noise and overbearing issues.
With certain types of application, the matters that can be taken into account are limited by law:
- Listed building applications - only those matters relating to the effects of the works on the architectural or historic interest of the building.
- Conservation Area applications - only those matters relating to the effect on the character or appearance of the conservation area.
- Advertisement applications - only those matters relating to amenity and public safety.
You need to state clearly which application you are referring to, preferably quoting the application number. If you do not know this, please give as much information as possible, such as the site address, development proposed, name of applicant etc.
Write to the Development Control Section at the Council Offices, Westgate, Bridgnorth, Shropshire, WV16 5AA, giving your name and address. You can also e-mail your comments to us at devcon@bridgnorth-dc.gov.uk. Again, details of your name and address should be given, to enable us to see how close to a development you are and assess any possible effects on you.
You need to send your comments in as soon as possible, as a time limit is normally set for receipt of comments, after which an application may be determined.
Please note that your letter may be available for others to read and copy, especially if an application is one that is determined by Committee.
We try to ensure that anyone who has written in on an individual basis to an application, is notified of the decision. However, all decisions are now available on the Council's website.
