Bridgnorth District Local Plan
What is the Bridgnorth District Local Plan?
The Local Plan is a statutory document consisting of a written statement and proposals map, which together provide detailed planning policies and proposals to guide development throughout the District.
The Local Plan was adopted by Bridgnorth District Council on the 18th July 2006. The policies of the Local Plan will be 'saved' for a period of 3 years or until replaced by the documents prepared under the Local Development Framework.
The Local Plan Written Statement is available to download (783kb)
You can also view the Proposals Map using our interactive mapping service. If you select the address search tab then you can access a list of relevant policies and designations for an individual site by using the address or postcode search. If you prefer to scroll around the map then clicking 'Get Info' on an area will show you the relevant policies and designations. The key on the left of the screen will provide a 'pop-up' listing of the relevant policy number and policy text.
By using the interactive mapping service you can identify street names and/or locate an individual site on the map, via the postcode and/or street name search described above. There are also facilities for magnifying the map (zoom in/out functionality) and you should be able to locate and determine policy designations for application sites.
Please note that the printed version of the Local Plan Proposals Map is the official version and takes precedence over the electronic copy in all cases.
The Local Plan is available for inspection at;

Policy H10 - Affordable Housing Provision
The qualifying site threshold of housing developments at which the Council will seek to negotiate a proportion of affordable housing to be provided on the site has been amended.
The threshold in Albrighton, Bridgnorth, Broseley, Highley and Shifnal has been lowered to 5 dwellings or 0.2 hectares. The same threshold already applies in Much Wenlock and remains unchanged.
The lower thresholds were adopted by the Council on 19th September 2007 and will apply to all planning applications for residential development in those settlements from 2nd October 2007.
The lower thresholds will be operated as interim planning guidance pending the preparation of a Core Strategy Development Plan Document.
A consultation period on lowering the thresholds ran from 13th July to 24th August 2007. The comments received can be viewed together with the report (Report No. 8) to the Council's Community Improvement Committee via the below link.
Community Improvement Committee 19th September 2007.
The Council have prepared a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on Affordable Housing, which provides more detailed guidance on the implementation of the affordable housing policies.
