Quality of Life Indicators
Audit Commission Area Profiles:
Quality of Life Indicators for Bridgnorth District Area - October 2005
The indicators in the pdf documant table below are a voluntary tool developed by the Audit Commission that is used to see how local areas are performing economically, environmentally and socially.
The indicators are intended to show how good a place is to live in the long term.
They used cover aspects of community safety, the environment and other measures that contribute to the development of sustainable communities as set out in 'Securing the Future', the government's Sustainable Development Strategy.
The information used to calculate the data for the Bridgnorth area that makes up the Quality of Life indicators is provided by a number of Local and Central Government Authorities, including Bridgnorth District Council, Shropshire County Council, West Mercia Police, Shropshire and Wrekin Fire Authority, Shropshire County Primary Care Trust, Shropshire and Staffordshire Strategic Health Authority, Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust and Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, Home Office, The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), Office of National Statistics (ONS), The Office of Water Services (OFWAT) and the Audit Commission.
As such Bridgnorth District Council is only able to directly influence a few of the total indicators contained in this listing.
It should also be noted that in some cases the data cannot be broken down to show results for the area covered by Bridgnorth district - and therefore simply represents the profile of the larger areas of Shropshire or even the West Midlands. These are shown where applicable.
The Quality of Life indicators are broken down into themes:
- Community cohesion and involvement,
- Community safety,
- Culture and leisure,
- Economic well being,
- Education and life-long learning,
- Environment, Health and social, well being,
- Housing,
- People and place,
- Transport and access.
Below each of the theme headings the Quality of Life indicators that have been developed are shown; for each indicator the level of performance for the Bridgnorth area is shown alongside the National Average performance achieved as a comparator.
